In this article, we’re going to talk about…

  • Navigating mixed emotions that may accompany weight management
  • Identifying all the amazing, incredible things your body can do
  • Discovering ways to celebrate all your wins—big and small

Birthday parties, graduation parties, retirement parties… celebrating is a way that humans have acknowledged change for many years. And there’s every reason for you to celebrate the changes that may be happening now that you’ve been incorporating Wegovy®, along with a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity, into your weight-management plan.

Part of celebrating your successes is acknowledging that they may look different from what you expected. How have you felt about your body since starting Wegovy®? Did you have any expectations when you began? Maybe you imagined how you’d fit a new exercise routine into your schedule or looked forward to spending more time in the produce section of your grocery store. But once you’ve achieved some weight loss, it’s possible that you don’t feel as excited as you thought you would.

While everyone can have an inner critic, the good news is that with a little practice, you can turn those harsh words into healing ones. After all, you believed in yourself enough to start taking Wegovy® as part of your weight-management plan.

Befriend yourself

When you’re struggling, see if you can change your perspective on the situation. For example, treat yourself like you would a close friend.

  • Be kind and understanding
  • Try not to pass judgment
  • Recognize what you love about yourself
  • Acknowledge anything you believe to be an imperfection

All the qualities you have make you uniquely you.

Write a letter (or text or email) from you, to you

If your best friend were taking on a big challenge, how would you cheer them on? What would you say to let them know they’re doing great?

Try writing your words of support and inspiration in a letter. Come back to this letter whenever you need a pick-me-up.

Try a new perspective

Your body can do some astonishing things no matter what your size or shape. Sometimes all it takes to appreciate something is to understand a little bit more about it.

Check out these fun facts that make your body totally worthy of a little worshipping.

The human body is working hard every day, even if you don’t realize it
  • The typical heart beats around 100,000 times each day
  • The typical nose can detect over a trillion different smells
  • Taste buds may adapt to dietary changes (and new ones are produced every 10 days or so)
  • The fastest nerve cells in the body can transmit information at nearly 270 miles per hour

Starting to think the human body may be just a little bit… super?

Your body is doing a lot to help you manage your weight. Appreciating what it's capable of may help lift your spirits in moments of uncertainty.

Be kind to yourself

While no one approach is right for everyone, we all need plenty of love and care to look and feel our best. By incorporating Wegovy® into your weight-management strategy along with changes to your diet and exercise routine, you’ve taken a big step in caring for your body. But it’s also important to nurture your inner self.

Take time to think about the little things that make you feel, well, like you—the things that don’t have to do with your body. Do you love to read, travel, or spend time with friends? When you do things that are meaningful to you, it can help you feel better connected to yourself and the world around you.

Come on, celebrate!

Do you see now why you have so many reasons to celebrate yourself? You’re making meaningful changes and working hard to create new habits. Cheer yourself on. But if you’re still struggling to be your own BFF, WeGoTogether® has got you. We’re here to celebrate every achievement, big or small. You’re worth it.

As you continue maintaining your progress with Wegovy®, working toward your goals, and incorporating new habits into your lifestyle, work closely alongside your health care professional to make sure you’re on the right track.
