Weight goal
We recommend setting a long-term goal that is achievable and realistic for you. As you make progress, you can divide this goal into smaller, more manageable weekly goals.
Talk with your health care provider about how much weight you may be able to lose while sticking with healthy eating habits and increased physical activity.

Waist measurement can give you another useful way to track your progress. Your health care provider may also want to know your waist measurement.
To measure your waist:
While standing, start at the top of your hip bones, then bring the tape measure all the way around your body, level with your belly button. Measure your waist just after you breathe out.

Your current height and weight are used to calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI). This is a measure that helps health care providers determine whether a person is carrying extra weight in relation to their height.
